Cala Violina and Cala Martina
A few km south of Follonica, inside the Natural Reserve Bandite di Scarlino, there are two beautiful beaches that haven’t seen the hands of man yet: Cala Violina and Cala Martina.
Both are surrounded by the mediterranean pine forest that stretches along the whole coastline of Maremma. You can reach them only by foot or bike along a trail of about 1 km immersed in the vegetation.
Cala Violina presents fine, soft sand that sound like a violin when you walk on it bare foot. Unfortunately in the summer, the beach is very crowded and it’s difficult to hear that music, but if you visit it in winter you’ll be able to fully appreciate its beauty and peculiarities.
Cala Martina is less known but beautiful as well. It presents sand and gravel and the sea is really clear. At sunset the colours of its waters mix with the sky in a breathtaking landscape: do not miss this spectacular show!
